B i o g r a p h y

Massimiliano Legnaro was born in Varese (Italy) in 1976. He studied saxophone at Filarmonica Saltriese’s school of music. During his formation, he worked with many international artist: he continued education in saxophone in several masterclasses with Mario Marzi, he earned the Swiss Band Association (ABS) diploma in band conducting with Franco Cesarini, followed by many master class in conducting and composition with Lorenzo Della Fonte and Jan Van der Roost. He starts composing in 1994 (Symphony n.1, Thor Saga) and up to now he composed more than forty original pieces for band and a lot of composition and arrangements for wind orchestra. His list of works also includes compositions for chamber music, chorus, string quartet and symphony orchestra.

 

He is the conductor and artistic director of Filarmonica Saltriese (Saltrio, Italy), conductor and artistic director of “Civica Filarmonica di Morbio Inferiore” (Ticino, Swiss), and conductor of the concert Band “Concordia” of Besano (Italy). He also is conductor of Banda Azzurra of Castronno (Italy) and he is often invited by several music formation as guest director. In 2008 he has obtained the prize “For cultural regards” from municipality of Morbio Inferiore.
